Choosing the Right RoboForex Account Type

Compare every RoboForex account to find the perfect fit for your trading style.

Why Account Type Matters

Choosing the right account type is one of the first decisions you will make as a trader, and it directly impacts your costs, execution quality, and available instruments. RoboForex offers several account types tailored to different experience levels and trading styles. Understanding the differences helps you avoid unnecessary fees and trade in conditions that match your strategy.

🧒Account Types in Plain English

Think of broker account types like gym memberships. ProCent is the learner's membership: the same gym with cent-sized weights. Pro charges no fee per visit, but a higher entry price every single time (the spread). ECN and Prime charge a small fee per visit (the commission) and a much lower entry price — and Prime's fee is the lower of the two. R StocksTrader is a different gym altogether: stocks and ETFs. The key is to add up what you would pay for the number of visits you will actually make.

Account Types Explained

ProCent Account — Best for Beginners

The ProCent account is designed for traders who are just starting out or want to test strategies with minimal financial risk. Balances are displayed in cents, so a $10 deposit shows as 1,000 cents in your account. This lets you trade micro positions and experience real market conditions without significant capital at stake.

  • Minimum deposit: $10
  • Lot size: 0.01 micro lots (cent lots)
  • Spreads: From 1.3 pips, floating
  • Commission: None
  • Best for: Beginners transitioning from demo to live, strategy testing with real money

ECN Account — Best for Intermediate Traders

The ECN (Electronic Communication Network) account connects you directly to liquidity providers, offering tighter spreads with a small commission per trade. This is ideal for traders who have moved beyond the basics and want better pricing.

  • Minimum deposit: $10
  • Lot size: 0.01 standard lots
  • Spreads: From 0.0 pips, floating (EUR/USD averages 0.1 pips)
  • Commission: $20 per $1M traded
  • Maximum leverage: 1:500
  • Best for: Day and swing traders who want raw spreads

Prime Account — Best for Professionals

RoboForex states that Prime has the lowest weighted-average spread of all its account types, and it charges half ECN's commission. The trade-off is leverage: at most 1:300 instead of ECN's 1:500.

  • Minimum deposit: $10
  • Lot size: 0.01 standard lots
  • Spreads: From 0.0 pips, floating (EUR/USD averages 0.1 pips)
  • Commission: $10 per $1M traded
  • Maximum leverage: 1:300
  • Best for: Active traders who want the lowest cost per lot

Pro Account — No Commission, All-In Spread

The Pro account has floating spreads and no commission: the whole cost is in the spread. On EUR/USD that averages 1.3 pips — about $13 per standard lot, per RoboForex's contract specifications. That is simple to read, but expensive for scalping: on a 5-pip target the spread alone is a quarter of it.

  • Minimum deposit: $10
  • Lot size: 0.01 standard lots
  • Spreads: From 1.3 pips, floating (EUR/USD averages 1.3 pips)
  • Commission: None
  • Maximum leverage: 1:2000
  • Best for: Traders who trade less often and want one all-in cost

R StocksTrader — Best for Stock Trading

If you want to trade individual stocks, ETFs, and indices beyond forex, the R StocksTrader platform and account type gives you access to thousands of global equities.

  • Minimum deposit: $100
  • Available instruments: 12,000+ stocks, indices, ETFs, forex, commodities
  • Spreads: From $0.02 per share on US stocks
  • Commission: Charged per order; the platform shows it before you confirm
  • Best for: Stock traders, portfolio diversifiers, long-term investors

Which Account Should You Choose?

If you are brand new to trading: Start with a ProCent account. The cent-based balance means you can practice with real money while keeping risk extremely low. A $50 deposit gives you 5,000 cents to work with — enough to practice proper position sizing and risk management without stressing over losses.

If you have demo experience and want to go live: The ECN or Prime account is the step up: EUR/USD averages 0.1 pips plus a commission, instead of 1.3 pips all-in. Prime charges the lower commission; ECN allows more leverage, which you do not need.

If you trade frequently or trade larger size: The Prime account charges $10 per $1M traded against ECN's $20, at the same 0.1-pip average EUR/USD spread. Over hundreds of trades a month the difference adds up.

If you scalp: cost per trade decides it. Pro's 1.3-pip average EUR/USD spread is about $13 per standard lot; Prime and ECN cost about $1 in spread plus the volume commission — a few dollars per lot. Scalp on Prime or ECN, not Pro.

If you want to trade stocks alongside forex: R StocksTrader is the only option that gives you access to individual equities. It works well as a secondary account alongside a forex-focused account.

🎯
Trading Scenario
Pick Your First Account
You have $200 to start trading. You've completed 3 months of demo trading, averaging 15 trades per month. Your strategy is swing trading on the H4 timeframe with 40-80 pip stop losses. Which account type fits best?
What would you do?
✅Good Thinking!

A solid conservative choice. With $200 as 20,000 cents, you can practice proper position sizing with minimal risk. Ideal if you want extra safety while transitioning from demo, though your returns will be small in absolute terms.

🏆Excellent Choice!

Excellent choice for your profile. Swing trading doesn't require high trade volume, so the small commission is offset by much tighter spreads. With 40-80 pip targets, saving 1+ pip per trade on spread adds up significantly over 15 monthly trades.

✅Good Thinking!

A fine choice, but the Prime advantage (slightly lower commission than ECN) only becomes meaningful at high volume. With 15 trades per month, the savings difference between ECN and Prime is negligible. Save Prime for when you scale up.

💡Reasonable

The wider fixed spreads (1.3 pips) will eat into your swing trade profits. With 40-80 pip targets, paying 1.3 pips vs 0.1 pips on every trade adds up. The simplicity is nice, but ECN is better value for your trading style.

🎯 Knowledge Check
You plan to scalp EUR/USD with 5-10 pip targets and high trade frequency (50+ trades per day). Which account type will minimize your total trading costs?
APrime — tightest spreads and lowest commission
BECN — raw spreads with a small commission
CProCent — minimal risk with cent lots
DPro — no commission keeps it simple
🔑 Key Concept

You can open multiple account types under a single RoboForex profile. Many experienced traders maintain a ProCent account for testing new strategies and a Prime or ECN account for their main trading. There is no need to choose just one.

📝Key Takeaways
1Your account type directly impacts spreads, commissions, and execution — choose based on your trading style
2ProCent is the safest transition from demo to live — Prime is the cheapest per lot for active traders (ECN charges twice the commission)
3You can open multiple account types under one RoboForex profile — use ProCent for testing, ECN/Prime for main trading
4For swing trading, cost per trade matters less (few trades, bigger targets) — but Prime is still the cheapest per lot
5For scalping, Prime's lowest commission structure saves real money at high volume
6Compare accounts by cost for your trade count: average spread plus commission per lot, from RoboForex's contract specifications
